Google Merchant Center (GMC)
Google Merchant Center is the platform where e-commerce businesses upload their product feeds to run Google Shopping ads, free product listings, and the Shopping component of Performance Max campaigns. GMC acts as the bridge between your product inventory and Google’s shopping ad formats. You submit your product data (titles, prices, images, availability) through feeds, and Google uses that information to display your products across its network.
GMC has strict policies around product data accuracy, and over 90% of GMC suspensions are for misrepresentation. Common issues include price mismatches, incorrect product information, missing business details, or poor website quality (read more about it in our GMC misrepresentation article).
Example: An online retailer sets up their Google Merchant Center, uploads their product feed with accurate information, and within 24 hours their Shopping ads are live across Google Search, showing product images, prices, and store information directly in search results.
