Advertiser Identity Verification
Advertiser identity verification is Google’s mandatory program requiring all advertisers to confirm their identity, business information, and location before buying ads on the platform. Google Ads verification rolled out globally starting in 2020, and eventually, all advertisers will be required to complete it. The process typically involves submitting personal identification (like a government ID), business registration documents, and answering questions about your operations.
You’ll get a 30-day deadline once notified, and failure to complete verification will pause your ads until you comply. Once verified, your business name and country will appear in ad disclosures when users click ‘Why this ad?’ This program aims to increase transparency and eliminate scammers from the platform.
Example: A new advertiser receives an in-account notification requiring identity verification within 30 days, needing to submit both a government-issued ID and business registration documents before their ads can continue running.
