Unsubstantiated Claims (Google Ads)

Last Updated on: October 16, 2025

Unsubstantiated claims are statements in your Google ads or landing pages that make promises or assertions without adequate proof or evidence to support them. This commonly affects health, financial, or performance-related claims that cannot be verified. Google requires advertisers to be able to substantiate any claims made in their advertising, and violations can result in ad disapproval and Google Ads account suspensions.

Example: A weight loss ad claims users will “lose 30 pounds in 30 days” without providing clinical evidence or appropriate disclaimers, resulting in an unsubstantiated claims violation.
